Inspired by one of Mexico´s richest native culture, Huichol, the artist Lizette Valdovinos offers a variety of urban images or abstracts, crafted with the ancient technique called Nierika, also commonly known as Yarn Painting.
This technique requires intensive labor which consists in meticulously embedding the colorful yarn with a subtle pressure to the surfaces, skinned with rustic bees wax.
By this unique and exotic technique, the talented artist accomplishes with exquisite taste different versatile concepts including her own designs, capturing the essence of insightful creations that stand out in elegance, obtaining a wonderful effect of lights and shades, and a more sophisticated outcome by the substitution of the original yarn by thread.
This amazing technique and a personal sense of perfection, allow the artist to fulfill the most different tastes in art, committing to the client´s most exquisite requests, regardless of the style or the subject.
Born in Jalisco, home to the Huichol ethnic group, and raised in Mexico City, Lizette Valdovinos reflects a blending outcome of her native origin with her urban upbringing.
Having brought this new form of art with her, Lizette currently lives in Montreal, Canada. A city that is well known for its great support to fine arts and culture, which has vastly enriched her artistic background. |
